Flowchart symbols

The flowchart is a diagram which visually presents the flow of data through processing systems. This means by seeing a flow chart one can know the operations performed and the sequence of these operations in a system.

Flow Diagram or flowchart is often used for documenting the existing process of the standard so that it becomes a guideline in the running production process. In addition, Flowchart or a Flowchart is also used to perform analysis of the production process so as to make improvements or continuous process improvement (continuously).

Basically, the Flowchart (Flowchart) is a tool used to perform Process Analysis, Process Planning and documenting the process as standard Production Guidelines.

Introduction

Flowchart (Flowchart) is one of the 7 QC Tools (7 quality control tool) which was introduced by along with other tools such as a Histogram, Pareto Chart, Scatter Chart, Control Chart, Cause and Effect Diagram (Fishbone Chart) and Check sheets.

Other mentions to Flowchart (Flowchart): Flow diagrams, Process Flowcharts, Process Folders, Work Flow diagrams and Business models.

Flowchart (Flowchart) is a great tool (tool) basic and easy to use and very useful for a Manufacturing company in identifying operational processes specially to explain each step in the process Operational excellence.

Some of the advantages in the use of the Flowchart (Flowchart) including:

  • A documentation of work procedures in ISO.

  • Guide to running Operations.

  • As a guide to conduct new employee training.

  • Benchmark (benchmark)

  • The Map work to prevent loss of direction

  • To facilitate decision making

Flowchart symbols

Flowchart (Flowchart) shape of the Diagram that represents an algorithm or process with different types of boxes and lines connected by arrows as reverses its flow. In the process the boxes are usually give a Label or short title of the process.

There are 6 basic symbols commonly use in flowchart of assembly language Programs:

Terminal, Process, input/output, Decision, Connector and Predefined Process.

General Rules for Flow charting

  1. All boxes of the flowchart are connect with Arrows. (Not lines)

  2. Flowchart symbols have an entry point on the top of the symbol with no other entry points. The exit point for all flowchart symbols is on the bottom except for the Decision symbol.

  3. The Decision symbol has two exit points; these can be on the sides or the bottom and one side.

  4. Generally, a flowchart will flow from top to bottom. However, an upward flow can be show as long as it does not exceed 3 symbols.

  5. Connectors are use to connect breaks in the flowchart. Examples are: (1) From one page to another page. (2) From the bottom of the page to the top of the same page. (3) An upward flow of more than 3 symbols

  6. Subroutines and Interrupt programs have their own and independent

  7. All flow charts start with a Terminal or Predefined Process (for interrupt

  8. programs or subroutines) symbol.

  9. All flowcharts end with a terminal or a contentious loop.
