How to make a tree diagram?

A Tree Diagram is one tool used to share large categories into smaller or level of detail. As the name suggests, is shaped like a Tree Diagram, tree branches, a stem has one branched to two or more. Likewise, with a problem that we want to discuss using the Tree Diagram, that consists of one category or large items are then distribute into two or more branches that are more detailed. This can help us in simplifying a complex issue or make it easier to get an overview on a problem that we face.

The diagram tree or Tree Diagram is also call with a Diagram of the Hierarchy, Systematic Diagram and analysis (Analysis Tree).

The Usefulness of Diagram Trees

Some of the usefulness of Diagram Trees within the industry are as follows:

  • Help to find the root of the problem.

  • Brainstorming (brainstorming) to get the solution.

  • Describes the steps or the details to others.

  • Identify the scope of a project.

  • Describes the steps that are needed to solve a problem.

  • To analyze a process work in detail.

How to Make A Diagram?

The following are the steps for setting up the Diagram tree.

  1. Write down the topics that would like to be discuss, for example, such problems would like resolve. The planned Project or the name of the process that wants to be analyze.

  2. Develop the topic by asking questions like "what's next for the cause of this problem?", "what activities have to be done to complete this project", "Why this could happen" and others. Use the question "what" and "why".

  3. How to use brainstorming or brainstorming to develop all possible questions and answers to find solutions or the root of the problem.

  4. Do the diagram re-examination if all it says is need to solve the problem in question and whether it is sufficient to find the root of the problem.

Example Diagram Of The Tree

Tree diagram can be drawn vertically or horizontally, below is a sample image of the Diagram tree.

Simple Method for creating diagram !

A tree diagram shows the hierarchical structure of the sentence. The sentence is consider the basic of the syntactic system. Instead of beginning with actual sentences, however we begin with the directions for generating or producing structural descriptions of sentences, which are set forth in phrase structure rules. The rules should be interpret as an instruction to rewrite or expand the symbol on the left of the arrows as the sequence on the right. In S NP + VP, “S” stands for sentence, “NP” (Noun Phrase) and “VP” (Verb Phrase).

Example:

The item on the left dominates the elements on the right. Bornstein starts with S, the highest level and works down to lower level until it comes to maximally specific level where in addition symbol can be written. This process is called derivational in the sentence.

About this example:

Tree diagram provides a precise means of defining syntactic relation. NP is immediately dominate by an S in the subject of that sentence. An NP is immediately dominate by a VP is the object or complement of the sentence containing the verb phrase. Tree diagram also shows which words are constituents of a sentence (Bornstein, 1997: 44). From the diagram below we can see that Aux, Vt and NP belong to the VP.

Points of juncture in tree diagram are call nodes. If one node is immediately dominate by another, it is call a daughter node. If one node is immediately dominate by the same nodes, they are call sister nodes. In the following diagram, the nodes NP and VP are daughter of S and sister nodes of each other. NP is the left sister whereas VP is the right sister.

Requirements of tree diagram

The requirement Tree Diagram tries to provide better solution to above said problems. It is a systematic approach in gathering the requirements. It tries to capture requirements diagrammatically rather than putting them into bulky paragraphs.

Even it also provides the relationship between the requirements, base on these relationships. With it, simple to identify the impact of changing one requirement on the entire system.

The diagram itself cannot capture all the requirements entirely. However in conjunction with other tools like flow charts (for business logic processing), Screen Transition Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams etc. This can play a vital role in systematically capturing the requirements. Like all UML diagrams, almost everything in Requirements Tree Diagram is optional.

Using Flow chart

The diagram gives user a liberty to capture the information he/she wants. However at the same time, it helps the user in checking the completeness of capture requirements. Requirements Tree Diagram has ability to question the user at various levels during gathering requirements. User gets a clearer picture of requirements as the diagram expands. However the extremity at which requirements to be capture is still a user’s choice.
